I have a beautiful friend who uses the gifts she possesses to inspire people around her. Her leadership breaks down walls and allows administrators, staff and faculty to thrive without fear of judgment. Everyone is welcome and valued. Her ability to remove barriers and open silos in academia is unprecedented. I have often admired her gifted use of humor. It truly is a talent she shares. I have long respected the depth of productivity she is able to accomplish and the ambiance of safety she cultivates. From my corner cubicle I observe the beeline people make to her desk because they know she will drop everything as if the queen had entered. She meets everyone’s needs with efficiency while she makes them laugh and enjoy the opportunity to share a moment. I will treasure her gifts forever. Many lives have been changed through this powerful, kind woman who fulfills her role on our team with purposeful devotion. I came to know she hurdles personal challenges to purposefully create an inclusive environment for every human being. She is amazing. Her story depicts an inner goal I possess. I want to write and live my life with qualities and characteristics that ensure every person can find their individual value, live securely and walk the steps of their journey with a secret confidence. I sincerely hope you find inspiration, hope and courage in my work and it strengthens your life. I hope you find within my words how valuable you truly are. Intertwined in my words are the stories of students, faculty and administrators that inspired me to live well and celebrate life. Each story showcases new  perspectives and thought lines that moved me out of my comfort zones to live beyond myself. I treasure the journey and often wonder regarding destinations. I hope to live with courage and poised awareness. I cherish every person I meet along the way and how our lives connect. The experiences are wrapped into my thinking and surround the ideas I write.
